Comfort.....

Hello everyone
I wanted to send a special message to everyone and thought this may be the best way to accomplish that...

In the last few months I have become involved with a local hospice here in my city. What I do for them is I crochet blankets for those who are dying. You're probably wondering why I do this.

In 1999 when my own mother was actively dying from Pancreatic Cancer I had just begun to crochet. When a person is losing their life there really isn't much you can do or say to make them feel peace or comfort. If you can, think about how you might feel if, God forbid, you were told you only had a certain amount of time to live. Would there be anything that would make you feel better? Probably not...

I decided to make my mother a blanket. I made her a very small crocheted throw blanket of very soft yarn done in all white and I noticed something. That blanket brought her some kind of comfort. Almost like a safety blanket a lot of us had as children. She wouldn't go anywhere without it. So, this is why I decided to get involved with the local hospice. So I could do that for others.

But now, I have a problem. I was going to start a non profit company so that I could accept donations in order to buy the supplies I need to make these blankets. The supplies consist of yarn and plastic bags to package them in. I inquired this morning and learned, it would cost me over 2 THOUSAND dollars to start a non profit. Unfortunately I do not have 2 grand to do this. I don't know anyone who does these days.

So what I am asking you is, would you like to help me make these blankets? If so, how you can help is by donating 5 or 10 dollars to the supply fund. I'm sorry that these donations can't be tax deductible at this time but if I am ever able to become a non profit it will be then but for now I have to do this on my own..

Each blanket costs me approximately between 30-35 dollars to make. That doesn't count the many hours of actually creating it which I do because I want to. I realize $30 to $35 dollars doesn't seem like a lot but it starts adding up after a while and I'm running out of funds to buy more yarn and bags.

I know a lot of people are afraid to donate online to individuals and not companies but I can assure you that not a dime of any money received will go for anything BUT the making of these blankets.. This is a cause that is VERY close to my heart and being able to bring even the smallest amount of comfort to someone who is passing on is my only goal and desire. Each time I go to the store I will post the receipt,I will post a picture of the completed project and if you'd like you can always email me your name and street address and I can send you a copy of the receipt and finished product in regular mail. I am also going to ask Mercy Hospice to give me a slip of receipt when I drop of the blankets...

So if you would like to help me help others who are nearing the end of their lives you can make donations through my PayPal account. Whatever you can give..Even a dollar, I understand how tight money is these days. It will be put to good use.

My PayPal account is listed as RobynGreco@aol.com

PLEASE pass this on to anyone else you think may be interested in helping.

Thank you for reading, thank you for your support and most of all thank you for helping me help others.

Robyn
